Mission:
To prevent the international spread of diseases of global impact with minimum interference to international travel and trade through:
● Effective surveillance and control measures of infectious diseases and other health concerns with global impact through local and international networking
● Strong and comprehensive national sanitation programs in all ports of entry
● Partnership with stakeholders
Mandate:
● R.A. No. 123 (1947) – Reorganization and Operation of the Bureau of Quarantine Service and Promulgating Regulations thereof.
● E.O. No. 288 (1959) – Abolished the Medical Department of the Bureau of Immigration and Transferred its Functions to the Bureau of Quarantine.
● R.A. No. 3052 (1961) – Amended the Reorganization Plan No. 13-A of the Department of Health
● International Health Regulations of the WHO which was adopted during the 22nd WHA on 23 July 1969
● Code of Sanitation of the Philippines (P.D. 856) 1976 and its Revised Implementing Rules and Regulations approved in 1998 by Sec. Alberto Romualdez Jr.
● A.O. No. 106 s. 1980 – Delineation of Responsibility for the Implementation of P.D. 856 at all Seaports and International Airports in the Philippines
● E.O. No. 119 (1986) – Reorganization of the Ministry of Health
● A.O. No. 118-C s. 1992 – Revised Quarantine Rules and Regulations
● E.O. 102 (1999) – DOH Re-engineeering
● R.A. 9271 (2004) – Quarantine Act of 2004
