[0] Bureau of Health Devices and Technology - Organizational Chart
General Functions
a. Develops plans, policies, programs and strategies for regulating health and health-related devices and technology.
b. Formulates rules, regulations and standards for licensing and accreditation of health and health-related devices and technology.
c. Conducts licensing and accreditation of health and health-related devices and technology.
d. Provides technical, consultative and advisory services to and develops capability of field offices on licensing and enforcement of laws, rules and regulations pertaining to health and health-related devices and technology
e. Monitors, evaluates and ensures compliance of manufacturers, distributors, advertisers and retailers of health and health-related devices and technology to health rules and regulations and standards of quality.
f. Advises the Secretary and the Undersecretary of Health on matters pertaining to regulation of health and health-related devices and technology
1. Ionizing and Non-Ionizing Radiation Regulation Division
Specific Functions
a. Formulates and enforces policies, standards, regulations and guidelines on the production, import, export, sale, promotion, distribution and use of ionizing and non-ionizing radiation devices in medicine , dentistry, veterinary medicine, commerce and industry, education and training research, anti-crime and household activities.
b. Undertakes radiation protection survey and evaluation and issues licenses, permits, registration and accreditation certificates for radiation facilities devices and technology
c. Provides technical assistance related to the radiation health component of the national radiological emergency preparedness and response plan.
d. Provides technical assistance and supervision, consultative and advisory services to and develops capability of field offices in implementation and enforcement of laws, rules and regulations pertaining to radiation facilities, devices and technology.
e. Develops, monitors and evaluates compliance, surveillance and quality assurance programs for radiation facilities and devices.
f. Conducts health technology assessments, studies and researches on radiation devices and technology.
2. Medical Physics, Dosimetry and Testing Laboratory Division
Specific Functions
a. Undertakes testing and calibration of radiation measuring equipment, radiation devices, medical devices and other health related devices.
b. Provides technical assistance and conducts training courses in medical physics and radiation dosimetry, radiation protection, quality assurance, and related topics.
c. Operates and maintains the Secondary Standard Dosimetry Laboratory (SSDL).
d. Provides radiation dosimetry and decontamination services during nuclear of radiological emergencies.
e. Conduct studies and researches in medical physics, radiation dosimetry and device testing.
3. Medical Non-Radiation Device Regulation Division
Specific Functions
a. Formulates and enforces policies, standards, regulations and guidelines on the production, import, export, sale, promotion, distribution and use of medical non-radiation devices and technology.
b. Conducts inspection of and issues licenses, permits, registration and accreditation certificates for medical non-radiation devices, technology and device production and storage facilities.
c. Provides technical assistance and supervision, consultative and advisory services to and develops capability of field offices in implementation and enforcement of laws, rules and regulations pertaining to medical non-radiation devices, technology and device production facilities.
d. Conducts health technology assessments, studies and researches on medical non-radiation devices and technology.
4. Health-Related Device Regulation Division
Specific Functions
a. Formulates and enforces policies, standards, regulations and guidelines on the production, import, export, sale, promotion, distribution and use of non-medical and non-radiation health-related devices and technology.
b. Conducts inspection of and issues licenses, permits, registration and accreditation certificates to for non-medical and non-radiation health-related devices and technology production and storage facilities.
c. Provides technical assistance and supervision, consultative and advisory services to and develops capability of field offices on implementation and enforcement of laws, rules and regulations pertaining to non-medical and non-radiation health related devices, technology and device production facilities.
d. Conducts health technology assessments, studies and researches on non-medical and non-radiation health-related devices and technology.
5. Administrative and Legal Unit
Specific Functions
a. Provides general administrative, legal and logistics support services in the regulation of health and health-related devices and technology.
