National Epidemiology Center - Organizational Chart

General Functions

a. Develops and evaluates surveillance and other health information systems

b. Collects, analyzes and disseminates reliable and timely information on the health status of the population

c. Investigates disease outbreaks and other threats to the public’s health

d. Evaluates efficiency and effectiveness of public health programs

e. Provides technical assistance and experts services to implementing agencies on matters pertaining to epidemiological and health surveillance capabilities

f. Advises the Secretary and Undersecretary of Health on matters pertaining to epidemiolgy and health surveillance

1. Public Health Surveillance and Informatics Division

Specific Functions

a. Develops and evaluate surveillance and other health information systems

b. Collects, analyzes and disseminates information obtained through routine surveillance and other health information system

c. Develops relevant software and other tools to facilitate health surveillance

d. Provides technical assistance on matters pertaining to health surveillance

2. Applied Public Health Division

Specific Functions

a. Investigates disease outbreaks and other acute threats to the public’s health

b. Provides technical assistance and experts services on matters pertaining to epidemiologic capability building

c. Provides technical assistance and experts service on matters pertaining to field health management capability building

3. Surveys, Risk Assessment and Evaluation Division

Specific Functions

a. Makes an assessment of the health status of the population through health surveys and special studies.

b. Evaluates efficiency and effectiveness of health programs

c. Investigates chronic and emerging threats to the public’s health

d. Disseminates regular reports on the state of health programs and health status of the population.

e. Provides technical assistance and experts services on matters pertaining to health surveys, risk assessment and program evaluation.
