Emergency Room Preparedness and Response

All DOH Hospitals shall be on "CODE WHITE ALERT" on December 24, 25 and 31, 2008 and January 1, 2009 to prepare and ensure the provision of prompt emergency services during this Holiday Season. Adequate manpower, drugs and medicines, vaccines, medical supplies and equipments, among others, shall be made available at all times.

Public Information Campaign

All Centers for Health Development should take the lead and implement a public information campaign in their respective region or catchment area for Fourmula Kontra Paputok Activities. They should coordinate with their local radio and TV network and assign a pool of speakers to promote the prevention firecrackers/fireworks injuries, especially informing the public about the dangers of using prohibited firecrackers/fireworks and watusi. The slogan for this year's Fourmula Kontra Paputok campaign is "Ngayong Bagong Taon, Gusto Mo Ba Ng Saya o Disgrasya, Huwag Kang Magpaputok"

 
Position Paper on RA 7183

AN ACT REGULATING THE SALE, MANUFACTURE, DISTRIBUTION AND USE OF FIRECRACKERS AND OTHER PYROTECHNIC DEVICES

     In furtherance of public safety, order and national security, as well as the enhancement of cultural traditions, R.A. 7183 was enacted in 1992 regulating the manufacture, sale, distribution and use of firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices.

     The Department of Health (DOH) currently promotes FOURmula Kontra Paputok through the cooperation of other national government agencies, local government units and civil society. The program aims to increase public awareness of the dangers of firecrackers and to prevent injuries from the handling, use and enjoyment of firecrackers and fireworks.
