Hospital systems are integral parts of health care delivery. Hospital care is also the most expensive component of health care. More than 50% of the annual DOH budget goes to hospital services.

Health care equipment is a very costly expense of the hospital but a much-needed investment vital to effective patient care. Its proper maintenance will help ensure proper diagnosis of disease and treatment of patients.

Effective and efficient management of hospital equipment includes the following functions:

1. Procurement/acquisition planning

  • Rational procurement of appropriate equipment based on standard specification and needs
