Do you have resource persons available for specific topics?
The Health Policy Development and Planning Bureau keeps an Expert’s Directory for specific topics of concern. This may be accessed by calling the Health Research Division at nos. 711-5377 or 743-8301 loc 1329.
topHow can we have our research proposals ethically reviewed?
Research Ethical Review Boards are present at the DOH Central Office, in all Centers for Health Development, teaching and training hospitals and DOH-retained hospitals. Ethical reviews should be done in the areas where the research will be performed. For example, for researches where subjects are Heart Center patients, the Ethical Review Board of the HeartCenter should be approached to do the review. The DOH Research Ethics Committee may be approached for multi-center trials by submitting a written letter of request for review, a copy of the research proposal and a fully accomplished DREC Form 1 to the Health Policy Development and Planning Bureau. The DREC Form 1 is available upon request by calling 7438301 loc 1337 or by writing to researchethics2005@yahoo.com
topHow can we participate in the Research Forum?
A researcher may participate in the Forum by answering the Call for Papers that are sent out around January of every year to partner institutions and posted at the DOH website. Participation may be in the form of paper presentations or poster exhibits. For those who wish to participate by attending the forum, kindly contact the Health Research Division, Health Policy Development and Planning Bureau, DOH – 7438301 loc 1329, 7115377, or thru enhr_ph@yahoo.com.
topIs there available training for research?
The Health Research Division provides or facilitates research capability-building for all DOH offices upon request. It also has access to other trainings that are offered for free or for reasonable fees for Research Methodology or Research Ethics.
topWhat are the research priorities of the Department of Health?
The research priorities of the Department of Health and the entire health sector can be found in the National Unified Health Research Agenda, a publication made by the DOH and the DOST. Regional or zonal research agenda are also found in the Zonal Health Research Agenda prepared by the same two agencies. The NUHRA can be accessed at the DOH website.
topWhere can we get funding for research?
All offices of the Department of Health are required to allot 5% of their budget for research. Consequently, funding may come from any one of the DOH offices. The Health Policy Development and Planning Bureau gives funding for priority agenda. These may be accessed by submitting proposals to the HPDPB. Other than this, the HPDPB also helps researchers look for funding for priority researches through its institutional partners.
