Health Secretary Enrique T. Ona, shown here with Philippine Medical Association President Dr. Oscar Tinio, recently visited typhoon devastated areas in Cagayan Valley region to personally check the health conditions of evacuees. The health chief also visited Echague District Hospital and Angadanan Rural Health Units, Cauyan Provincial Hospital, Milagros Albano District Hospital, Southern Isabela General Hospital, and Gov. Faustino N. Dy Sr. Memorial Hospital. Ona urged all health stakeholders to remove the concept of politicizing health insurance and encouraged 100% Philhealth enrolment in order to provide better health services to the people. He also suggested a memorandum of agreement between government hospitals and private doctors in order to complement the need specialized practitioners. Also present during the visit were Cagayan Valley Regional Director Rio Magpantay, Health Assistant Secretary Eric Tayag, DOH Executive Assistant Dr. Joseph Lachica, and Director Joven OrdoƱa.
