Injury Registry Update of Sentinel Hospitals

 One thousand and four (1004) injuries were reported as of 6:00 AM of January 5,  2012. This is  4 (0.4%) cases higher than the same period last year (Figure 1) and 18 (1.8%) cases higher than the previous five-year average (2006-2010). Nine hundred seventy (96.6%) were fireworks-related injuries, 29 (2.9%) were stray-bullet injuries and 5 (0.5%) were firecracker ingestion. Six hundred and three of the cases (60%) were from NCR (Table 1).   There were 4 deaths: 3 from FRI and 1 from stray bullet.
