Injury Registry Update of Sentinel Hospitals

Nine hundred forty-nine (949) injuries were reported as of 6:00 AM of January 4,  2012. This is  20 (2.2%) cases higher than the same period last year (Figure 1) and 9 (0.9%) cases lower than the previous five-year average (2006-2010). Nine hundred sixteen (96.5%) were fireworks-related injuries, 28 (3%) were stray-bullet injuries and 5 (0.5%) were firecracker ingestion. Five hundred sixty-four of the cases (59%) were from NCR (Table 1).  No new deaths were reported.
