The success of the Safe Water System Project (SWS) under Dr. Madeline Retuta has been an overwhelming accomplishment for the Center for Health Development for Ilocos.
Due to the uprising incidence and cases of outbreak of water-borne diseases in the country, the Department of Health has issued an Administrative Order earlier this year on the standard requirements amd procedures of treating drinking water. The policy which was based on the said project requires the adoption on the use of 1.25 Sodium Hypochlorite solution as drinking water disinfectant at the point of use or at household level. This solution can be used not only during disasters or emergency cases but also in the treatment of drinking water intended for daily use as needed during normal condition. |
